My Story
My name is Tan Boston and I am originally from sunny Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. I currently reside in Dayton, Ohio, and work as an Assistant Professor at Northern Kentucky University Chase College of Law, where I teach sports law, property, and sales and secured transactions.
My scholarly research merges three passions of mine--sports, gender equity, and intellectual property. Specifically, I research and write about the Title IX implications of intercollegiate name, image and likeness (NIL), an area that also explores the boundaries of capitalism and economic justice. My scholarship appears in the Louisiana Law Review, Richmond Law Review and Stanford Journal of Civil Rights and Civil Liberties, among others. I am Chair-elect of the Sports Law Section of the Association of American Law Schools (AALS), as well as Chair of the Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Committee of the Sports and Recreation Law Association (SRLA). I also serve on NKU’s Athletics Council. Prior to joining the Chase Law faculty, I was the Director of LL.M. & M.S.L. Programs and a Visiting Assistant Professor at the University of Dayton School of Law.
I first studied law at the University of Virginia, where I served on the Editorial Board of the Virginia Journal of Law and Technology, and as a teaching assistant in the Athletics Department. After graduating from Virginia, my career included stints at the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) and Wyndham Worldwide. I earned my B.A. from Florida Atlantic University, J.D. from the University of Virginia, and an LL.M. from the University of Dayton.
